You're assuming the flogging scene was based on the nun, and not on Isaiah 53

Have you read Emmerich's writings? They're graphic. And, they're "visions," which means they're filtered through the prejudices and experiences of the visionary.

And, they may not even be HER visions, as a secretary transcribed them. The Vatican has long questioned the motivations of this secretary.

I don't know what you thought of Mel's PASSION but I thank you for bringing Emmerich's visions into this thread. And you are right that Emmerich's secretary is suspected of adding to Emmerich's visions when they were put down on paper.

I have not read her, nor do I care about her, nor is my post about her.

The discussion is only germane if the flogging scene is not reflective of biblical sources.

Isaiah 53 was the text on the screen as the lights dimmed in the theatre where I saw it.
