You could be correct about the 50% number however; you are talking about 2 very different religious dogmas here. Here is what I was raised with and came to believe. The fact is that Jesus was crucified. Jesus was crucified in Judea. Jesus was judged by a Roman at the urging of the only other population at the time which were Jews in the political hierarchy. Not all Jews called for his crucifixion. Jesus was sent to earth by his Father to die on the cross. The Jewish tradition does not recognize Jesus as the Son of God so they do not accept the fact that God sent him here for the very purpose of death and resurrection. Christians understand that distinction because they believe Christ was ordained to die and be resurrected. Jews have no such faith so they fear blame for killing a man and project that fear onto Christians. If God sent Jesus to die then all of those involved in his death had no choice in the matter because it was already ordained. The only person that could have stopped the crucifixion was Jesus himself.

I have often stated that if you believe that Christ was our Savior, then you can go into this movie and reafffirm your belief....If you DON'T believe it, then obviously you are find some sort of "quibble" with this movie...
The purpose of this movie to Mel's credit, is his personal tribute to Jesus and his own reflection on his religion. One that Christians share. His tribute is understanding and reflection of the fact that Jesus died on the cross to deliver us ALL FROM SIN.

The sad thing is that it is spelled out perfectly in THEIR OWN OLD Testament at Isaiah 52:13 - 53:12!
