No. The Ak-47 is accurate out to at least 400 meters.

Further, 'rifle' is a term that has to do with actual length, not accuracy.

"Rifle" refers to having a "rifled" barrel as opposed to a smooth bore as did muskets and as do shotguns. The term is generally used for long guns today because a certain period of time went by in the late eighteen hundreds during which long guns were invariably rifled while pistols generally weren't. Today of course virtually all barrels in both long guns and pistols are rifled to make bullets spin, so that the term is being misused.

Yes, it is serviceable out to 400 meters. I own several, have shot them many times at those ranges. While certainly not the most accurate rifle, and 7.62 X 39 certainly not being the most accurate round, your statement of them not being accurate past 120 yards is easily dismissed by anyone that has shot an AK or been shot at with one.

Further.... plenty of pistols were rifled prior to the dates you mentioned. Anyway, I started this thread, not as a gun debate, but to discuss the arms dealings of Norinco. If you want to debate Ak's, etc. fire up another thread and I'll be there.
