Urban legends move faster, but they're still ... legends [Roeper quotes Freeper] A FR Original

George Carlin delivered a monologue titled, "I Am a Bad American." The essay includes these statements:
"I believe the money I make belongs to me and my family, not some mid-level governmental functionary who wants to give it away to crack addicts squirting out babies.... I believe it's called the Boy Scouts for a reason.... I believe that if you're selling me a Big Mac, you'd better be doing it in English."
George Carlin?! Sounds more like something Rush Limbaugh would say, but the actual author appears to be a guy calling himself "bootyist-monk" on FreeRepublic.com, a conservative Web site. It was originally titled, "I'm Your Worst Nightmare, Because I'm a Bad Republican."

Oh, come on, you know better. He can submit a 'news' article, tell his boss his 'source' is from "this" site, and poof, a new story. It's amazing how simple it is to become a 'qualified' journalist nowdays. What ever happened to "who, what, when, where, why and how"?

The post that would not die.
As I've said on other threads, I make my living writing and have done quite well (thank you very much), but it is my Bad Republican rant that has bounced around millions of email inboxes and websites. I take no credit other than writing it. Without JimRob, FreeRepublic and an unknown Freeper or lurker who saw it and sent it to a couple of friends, and so on, and so on, until it became an Urban Legend (getting a title change to Bad American and picking up numerous variations along the way), George Carlin wouldn't need to have a permanent denial on his website.

Carlin, Nugent, and Miller have all received credit over the past few years.

To: george wythe
John Kerry was seated next to Jane Fonda at an anti-war rally. The picture in question is as phony as the Internet shot of a shark jumping out of the water to chomp on a helicopter, or the guy holding a fluffy white cat the size of an English mastiff. One of the photos was genuine, the other (so far) a mocked up composite. Richard Dopey Roper doesn't let the facts get in the way of his rant.
Please do not post the photo (real or fake) here. Bill Gates' Corbis licenses the photo and they did not like the photo appearing on FR (even though it was not hosted on any FR server).

A power company in New Mexico issued fines to customers for keeping their holiday lights up too long. Now that's my kind of urban legend! Alas, this was just a hoax This speaks loads as to the "tolerance" that Mr. Roper exhibits.

What ever happened to "who, what, when, where, why and how"? If it's not in the press release, it won't be in the article.

Wow... as Mike Myers used to say on Wayne's World: "We're not worthy"! ;)
In any case, thanks for the information.

Bttt.. and when did any media journalist let the facts get in the way? It gets really tiring after a while.
To: weegee
Roeper is not the only "journalist " to do this. Every report I see mentions "the photo" without mentioning that there are two of them. So, I can derive from this that any photo i see is a fraud. It is all part of the media support of the dems. Leno even did it, never bring up the other picture to Kerry.

Carlin, Nugent, and Miller have all received credit over the past few years. No argument there. What I'd like to hear is for Miller to do it now. Think of yourself casting the part to read the rant on a TV special. Dennis Miller has to be the hands-down choice.

Somebody clue this guy that maybe the photo of Kerry and Fonda sitting at a pro-communist rally is REAL.
The photo of the two on a platform (with clever 'newspaper' caption) is the fake.
