LOL. I hope his new flick does better than "The Scorpion King" - that stink.

It's been awhile since I read any history of the period, but I seem to recall being mildly surprised that so much predynastic stuff was found at the oases (as opposed to the Nile Valley itself). Probably just because the stuff there got built over.

"stink" should be "stunk" - except in the sentence "Heatseeker's spelling stinks". :(

I was never that interested in pre-dynastic stuff. The New Kingdom is more my speed. When you say "oases" do you mean the delta area or the Fayum?

Yeah, Scorpion King wasn't the best vehicle for the Rock's talent, partly I felt because he didn't have enough good dialogue. They need a script that works in some of his trash-talking :)

I haven't read anything on predynastic use of oases, but that's an interesting point. I'd guess that nomads from Arabia who had been living on oases there may have migrated into Egypt as well in predynastic times.

Really ancient material in the Nile valley is probably silted over.
