Some Girl Scout mothers called it soft-core porn. "It embarrassed me to look at it with my husband," said parent Shannon Donaldson. I pity that relationship.

"You're telling these girls to raise their fingers up to pledge to honor God and country, and yet you're handing out materials saying homosexuality is OK," said Brownie leader Donna Coody, who disbanded her five-member troop. The furor is growing!

And they were disturbed to find out that the Girl Scout organization has been giving its endorsement for years to a Planned Parenthood sex-ed program in which girls and boys are given literature on homosexuality, masturbation and condoms. Better late than never I guess. Let's hope more parents wake up. They might check out what Johnny and Jenny are learning over at the gov't schools.

If the Girl Scouts are placing their logo on the pamphlets it is irrelevant whether they are giving money to Planned Parenthood or using the program within Girl Scouts. The logo is an endorsement of the Planned Parenthood program and literature.
I say good for these parents who have taken a stand against this type of duplicity and have taken their children out of an organization that allows its logo and thus its endorsement to be attached to such a morally bankrupt organization as Planned Parenthood.

A few years ago here in Cincinnati, a girl scout counselor from another country visiting touched girl scouts inappropriately while on an outing. The counselor was sent out of the country by the organization to cover it up. It was in the news. My girl will never join them.

Some 400 to 700 fifth- through ninth-graders attend the half-day Nobody's Fool conference in Waco each July. The program never mentions abortion, according to Planned Parenthood. The youngsters receive a book with chapters on homosexuality and masturbation, as well as illustrations of couples having sex, people examining their naked bodies and a boy putting on a condom.Oh. Do they have fisting demonstrations, too? </ revulsion

Why do you "pity that relationship". If it has a picture of a young boy putting on a condom or of homosexual sex, I would find it uncomfortable as well. I am glad she finds it embarassing. I think that desensitization of our people to perversion and inappropriateness has led to people not being embarassed over anything. The death of outrage and any ability to be motivated to defend anything.
I became embarassed when I was with my husband when two grown women in front of WalMart were throwing profanities around and cursing some young children. Do you feel sorry for my relationship with my husband as well?

You've completely missed the point, B.

"Register now for Nobody's Fool, Planned Parenthood of Central Texas' annual conference for girls and boys entering grades 5-9. The purpose of the conference is to provide teens and pre-teens with factual information about growing up, puberty, dating, relationships, sexual issues and sexually transmitted diseases, including AIDS."

She didn't say "My husband and I were emberassed...". No, she said that she was embarassed to look at it with her husband.

One of my neighbors down the street is a girl scout leader. They had a program planned like the one described above. She called me to invite my daughter, explaining that the program included useful information on sex, contraception and alternative sexual choices. egads. Did my daughter go? hahaha. NO. But a few weeks prior to this my daughter DID go to a Purity Conference. Perhaps I should invite her daughters to the next conference...? :o)

You still don't get it.
To: mrs tiggywinkle
How old is your daughter and where did you find the Purity convention?
I was a leader for Daisy GS. I bought a Brownie vest for the next year. After I read a few things about GS, the vest sits unused.
Everyone needs to understand this point as well. When you buy cookie, the troop gets 10 cents. The rest of that 3.00 is promoting this crap.
(Even the leaders have to pay 7.00 to run a troop!!)

The Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts used to both be good, solid, moral organizations to which our children could belong. It seems that the Girl Scouts has decided that is not the path on which they wish to continue.

I highly doubt if she was embarrased strickly on the softcore sexual pics.
I would think she was embarrased that it had been given to her daughter.
I'm embarrased for you, that it was the only thing in the story that you could find to comment about.

10 cents?! that's IT?! Crud...I bought 6 boxes. No more.
My daughter will be 14 in May. The conference was for girls ages 12-18 and covered issues of modesty to dating to saving yourself for your husband in body and heart. She loved the experience and had many questions later. We sat up for quite a while talking, laughing and growing closer.
The conference was through our fellowship at a sister church in Grass Valley, California.
