The US press was awash with stories most unflattering. Arnaud Borchgrave of the disreputable Washington Times and the reputable United Press wrote of Gen Aziz Khan, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, allegedly calling America the “number 1 enemy of Muslims”

Khan is an extremely common surname in Asia. From the dictionary: Khan (n.) A king; a prince; a chief; a governor; -- so called among the Tartars, Turks, and Persians, and in countries now or formerly governed by them.

Perhaps the most famous Khan in history was Jenghiz Khan, the Mongol emperor whose Goldern Horde conquered most of Asia.
