That's what I'm thinking. The guy is probably so ashamed of himself and depressed with what he has to live with for the rest of his life that he just wants to do his time and then drop off the face of the earth.

Or maybe the motorcyclist has relatives who want to even the score, and Janklow has decided it's safer in jail.
