Yes, you cannot get in the mess hall without a weapon, They are checked on entry, to be sure they are on safe and the magazine is removed.

what's the point of having a weapon in the mess hall if you remove the magazine..by the time you lock and load it's too late....are they afraid you are gonna shoot the cooks?...
