Dutroux: Child rapist claims girls were kept in dungeon for protection (denies everything)

Convicted child rapist Marc Dutroux has denied kidnapping and killing two young girls found buried in his garden in Belgium, saying he kept them in a dungeon to protect them from a child-sex ring.

Dutroux is accused of a string of horrific crimes including the rape, abuse and murder of schoolgirls in the early 1990s.

Taking the stand for the first time, he blamed his wife and three accomplices for the abduction of two eight-year old girls whose bodies were found buried in his garden.

He also said police officers helped kidnap two of the victims who he thought would be forced into prostitution.

He said he was angry when he stumbled across the girls at his home but was convinced by his wife and a man he has admitted killing that it would be best if they kept them for a few days.

Dutroux told the court that was why he built a purpose built cellar to confine them.

His then wife Michelle Martin has also testified.

She said she refused to feed two eight-year-olds who had been held captive out of fear they would jump on her like wild dogs.

They starved to death while Dutroux was in prison on an unrelated offence.

Wild dogs . . . wild dogs . . . . That's the ticket! Should we use dobermans, or rottweilers?

I have been interested in this story for some time. I thought it had dried up and blown away.

Weren't some of the claims that these children were taken to aristocratic sex parties in Germany involving politicians and the like?

I don't think anyone knows for sure but the guilty parties. But it's inconceivable that the case would have been handled as it had been unless some very, very high-level politicians were involved. I don't know about Germans, but I should think there would have to be Belgians in on it.

He sounds like a perfect candidate for the next secretary general of the UN. His resume covers the nessasary qualifications: Belgian pedophile.
