Someone tried to start an all-female talk station here in Dallas a couple of years ago and it was aborted. I am not even sure it even signed on, it didn't last a day I would bet.
I've worked in radio syndication in Dallas for over 20 years, and I know the guy who was setting up the female-oriented talk station. That was Ira Lipson, a longtime major radio guy in these parts. It had a good line-up of talent and I think it had excellent chances of appealing to an underserved radio demographic, but the financing fell through the day before it was to launch. That was too bad; I've worked with some of the women who'd been signed, and they were really good radio talents.
This WLIB radio thing, however, is a bass-ackwards joke. It's not a real radio network, it's just a way to circumvent campaign finance laws by broadcasting a 24-hour paid infomercial in an election year.
