Wouldnt it be more newsworthy if NO loud explosions were heard in Baghdad?

Two explosions are heard in Baghdad
The Associated Press
3/2/2004, 11:41 p.m. ET
BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) Two explosions were heard Wednesday morning in Baghdad, a day after simultaneous suicide bombings on Shiite Muslim shrines in the capital and the holy city of Karbala killed at least 143 people.
It was not clear where the explosions were and U.S. military officials said they had no information.
Iraqi officials called for calm at the start of a three-day mourning period in light of Tuesday's attacks and hundreds of funerals were expected to take place.

yep, a celebratory suicide bombing in anticipation of the apology Hanoi John Kerry promised in his recent address.

Is there such a thing as a quiet explosion?
Has OSHA approved the sound level for these explosions? Did the terrorists issue hearing protection gear before setting off their explosions? Do they have an approved Health and Safety Plan? Have they trained all their operatives on making safe loud explosions? Where are the training records kept? Are they available for agency inspection?

My God. 150 Shiites killed in Bagdad yesterday and 40 in Pakistan. Then this. Can Al Quada be so stupid? Muslim attacking muslim? I can think of nothing better for our cause...our cause being western civilization.

You have a point.

I'd rather have them killing each other than killing us. i'd rather have "them" not killing anybody. In some sense though, I agree with your point- by killing their fellow muslims, "they" (al-qaeda/wahhabi types) are tarnishing their image. for creating this situation, we do have GWB to thank.
What will be really funny is if the Shia turn out to be our allies- for the fustian of the Mad Mullahs of Thehran, the Shia are (relatively speaking) much less strident/doctrinaire than the salaf. and the AQ boys have said that they view the Shia as their real, long term enemy.
Three missiles hit Baghdad neighborhood, striking telephone exchange, injuring one
By Associated Press, 3/3/2004 01:43
BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) Three missiles hit a Baghdad neighborhood early Wednesday morning, Iraqi police said, damaging a telephone exchange and critically injuring one person.
The missile attacks came a day after simultaneous suicide bombings on Shiite Muslim shrines in the capital and the holy city of Karbala killed at least 143 people. Iraqi officials called for calm at the start of a three-day mourning period in light of Tuesday's attacks.
Iraqi police Brig. Gen. Samer Saadoun said the missiles were fired within minutes of each other Wednesday, striking the exchange in the Mansour neighborhood of the capital, Baghdad.
He said an Iraqi, critically injured in the attack, was taken to a hospital. There were no arrests, but police were searching for the attacker.
Twelve telephone exchanges in Baghdad were set up last month, replacing the ones destroyed in the U.S.-led invasion, letting the Iraqi Telephone and Post Co. to provide service for 240,000 lines in and around Baghdad.
An estimated 280,000 lines remain out of service, officials said.
