Could the title be amended to say Oklahoma instead of OK? Thought a teen was "OK"

Yep, thats how it reads to me. I wasn't even going to click on this because I thought the missing teen was OK. needs fixing.
To: nini
Don't know, Nini.. She might be listed as a runaway or something since they don't seem to know she went with the guys of her own free will or not. I just got the link from a paid to read site I belong to (it's the daughther of one of the other members) and lurking here I've seen quite a few other missing persons alerts and lots of people who'll look around for her. Doesn't sound like the kind of guys she should be with even if she did run away..
And doh! on the OK/Oklahoma thing, didn't even think of that. I don't know how to edit a former post, sorry, could an admin please change it?

Quickest way to alert the mods to a problem like that is to report it as abuse.

I hope things turn out okay for the kid, but geez......
If the internet was around in the '80s I guess there would have been a thread about me on FR that time I ran away from home for a few days during high school. This national frenzy over every single missing kid is feeding national paranoia and hysteria.
Just had to get that off my chest.

You can send the abuse report to the mods without them seeing who it is coming from. If you want them to know it is from you, you check a box at the bottom. Otherwise they don't get to know who is sending the report.

I don't know her either, but here's the info from
the website:
The last time my daughter Kayla was seen or heard from was February 27, 2004 at 6:25pm. She was suppose to be spending the night with a friend and disappeared while they were playing basketball. She was last seen leaving the area with 3 white men ages 18-25 in a white 2 door Grand Am type car with a silver or gray bottom and heavy tinted windows. The men were drunk, and it is not clear if Kayla went with them willing or not.
Date of birth: 08-16-1988
Hair Color: Brown hair that was dyed blonde
Eye Color: Brown
Height: 5' 4"
Weight: 160 lbs.
Race: Whit
e Gender: Female Last Seen On: 02-27-2004 Last Location: Norman, OK
She has her nose, navel, and ears pierced. She was last seen wearing a red hoody sweatshirt with the words "Lucky Brand" printed in yellow, blue jeans rolled up to her knees, white tennis shoes with blue stripes and spongebob shoelaces.
If you have any information please contact
Lori at Bbear16@cox.net or The Norman, Oklahoma police department at 405-321-1600

Well thats one way to look at it.
I ran away for a few months in the 1970s.
I learned some really valuable lessons in reality.
Had some really bad things happen to me, too.
I have often mused on the motives of the caring adults who "helped" me stay gone when I was on the run, 2000 miles from home.
Since they were such caring adults, they should have taken me to a church, or to the police, or somewhere safe.
Years later,I dont thank them for their "help".
I look at every missing child alert, Amber or not.
Just in case I can actually help.Maybe not the way a runaway child would think is helpfull, but help never the less.
And from the standpoint of someone who knows the possible consequences of stupid, emotional, foolish teenage actions, and as an adult, I will help whenever I can.

I am reading Thomas Sowell's autobiography, and I was surprised to find out that he was a teenage runaway. Most of us would have agreed with his reasons for leaving his overbearing mother, who was undermining his education and making his life intolerable.
He had some very lean and hungry times, but didn't face the kinds of things I think you're alluding to...half a century ago. The law tried to treat him like a criminal, but he knew that if he simply faded into New York City they'd never find him, so that's what he did.
To: Triple Word Score
Actually, it is very easy to "fade" away.
I had a fake "adult", legal picture ID in less than two weeks after I bolted home.
Within three weeks I had a job.
The seedy underclass of society might sound noble, exciting and edgy to those who have not lived in it.
It is just the seedy underclass of perverts, criminals and poverty to those who live there.
Trust me, there is no honor among thieves, and nothing is exotic, noble or "special" about living an alternative lifestyle amid the refuse of society.
Fear, filth, crime and hunger are the things adults are supposed to protect their children from.
Even mindless animals attempt to avoid those threats,(crime is a human construct)for their offspring.
