The touch screens were widely used in New Mexico during the 2000 election. The error rate was 2% as compared to California's 1.9% and the contested Florida counties 1.5 & 1.6. Go figure, people do not pay attention.

I didn't realize the error rate was so high for any system. Did they count abstentions as errors, since some people intentionally skip some questions?

If not, the error rate is hard to fathom. Two percent is like every other person when ballots have many offices/judges/propositions.
