I can't see why so many are saying this is from a Roman Catholic view. I'm Assembly of GOD...GOD deserves all caps. Mel just went by the NT. The ugly baby carried by satan I think represented our sin.
Satan was not as beautiful as I expected him to be. After all satan was GOD's most beautiful angel.
The way Mary was played/spoke was reasonable for some one watching her beloved son being murdered before her eyes.
Mel did a great job of telling the story of the Crucifixion.
I didn't find The Passion of Christ overly violent, given what we know about the priest and Roman justice. Violence was a very big part of everyday life in the Holy Land at that time. Rebillions were frequent, and Rome kept 'order' through brutality.
I didn't expect a sanitized version like so many Bibical movies about Jesus are.
I found the Resurection scene well done, especially the tight shot of the nail holes in the hands.
Loved the flashbacks.
Can you imagine the howls of violence we'd hear if Mel should decide to do the Second Coming of Christ in Revelations?
The Left Behind series are tame in comparison to what Mel could do.
