The time to vote against the RINOs is during the primaries and not the general election.
On the other hand, voting against the RINOs in the general election might teach the power brokers and candidates that RINOs are "unelectable."
Your approach makes sense at first, but look where it has gotten us.

[Bush] voted in CCW in Texas...
He did what he needed to to gain power. And he has trumpeted his readiness to sell out the 2nd amendment to retain power today.
A consistently whorish politico without real principles, it seems.

There are some on this site that only care about the NRA and feel the others (GOA, SAS, etc.) are irrelevent because they do not see the others names in newspapers or hear the names of the others on Congress' floors. It is unfortunate that they only see that as results.
And we should now discuss the political genius of the NRA for leading to this terrible result. (Not to mention Larry Craig, who opened the floodgates to the amendments.)

"-- there are some who continually, and unfairly, brand the NRA as gutless and self-perpetuating.
It takes all kinds, and arguing amongst ourselves is defeatist."

THe NRA's position has arguably been gutless since the GCA of '68 was passed with their approval.
Blinding yourself to this fact by refusing to discuss alternatives is true defeatism.

Not to mention Larry Craig, who opened the floodgates to the amendmentsThere is no way in hell you can say Larry is responsible for this debacle. Place the blame where it belongs. Squarely on the backs of the Senators that voted for the freedom robbing amendments to a good basic bill.

That would happen if your ballot contained a section where you explain why you're voting like that. Any election win for the dems pushes the country farther to the left.
Look, I know people are upset but the vote this week was on a Pro-gun issue. That wouldn't have happened before Bush. Let's send it back to the House where our pro-gun majority will either kill the Bill or send it back clean. Bush said he would sign a clean Bill.
Republicans have been losing for so long, the people on this site can't recognize the fact we are winning.
Don't give the power back to the dems.

And we should now discuss the political genius of the NRA for leading to this terrible result. (Not to mention Larry Craig, who opened the floodgates to the amendments.) What is happening here today is the same as judging a football coach's performance before the first half is over.
This is the way the Senate does business, we are watching a work in progress.
There is nothing the NRA could do to prevent ammendments.
The main bill still has to be voted out of the Senate and will then meet the firewall of Tom DeLay.
In the meantime, call and write your Reps and Senators. Let them hear the roar of 5 million NRA members.

IMHO there is no way that this bill as it stands will ever make it out of committee.

I just sent an email to Tom Delay urging him to stand up to the tyranny we have witnessed in the senate today...I think we should let the House members know that if this stands the electoral repercussions will be a disaster for the republicans.

What a cluster-flop! Even with all the added tyranny they still oppose the bill. So everyone agrees the bill should now be defeated. A truly pathetic exibition!

If all this crap becomes law I think we will be hearing "Disperse you rebels! Damn you, throw down your arms and disperse." (British Major John Pitcairn, Lexington, Massachusetts, April 19, 1775.) again.
