The AW ban of Sept 13 '94 expires in 10 years - Sept 13 of this year. There's a proposed amendment to S-1805 (The Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act), to extend the AWB. A vote on whether to include that amendment is coming up today.

Yes in 1994. That ban is about to expire.

Democrats show less fear of gun control legislation

But the votes are still expected to be close -- so close that supporters are hoping that the two leading Democratic presidential contenders, Sens. John Edwards, D-N.C., and John Kerry, D-Mass., will return to Washington from their campaigns and to vote.

I think I heard on the radio this morning that Kerry will NOT be coming to FL to campaign in order to vote on this bill.

What a putz!

Kerry to party in D.C. Super Tuesday

WASHINGTON, March 1 (UPI) -- U.S. Sen. John Kerry's decision to participate in Tuesday's Senate gun control vote means he will celebrate Super Tuesday in Washington.

The Democratic presidential front-runner plans to attend a party at the Old Post Office Pavilion in Washington so he can participate in a Senate vote on a gun bill Tuesday, campaign spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter told UPI.

The vote will decide whether to renew the ban on assault-type weapons and extend background checks to gun shows. Also scheduled to attend the vote is Sen. John Edwards, D-N.C., who is fighting Kerry for the nomination.
