Anyway, I agree with the letter. He should withdraw it from consideration for next years Oscars.

Another take on this -- he could say nothing. If they don't honor the film, they show themselves out of step with the opinion of millions of movie-goers. If they do honor the film, he can decline to accept it -- but not rudely and ostentatiously like Brando did.
