Dear C--, please submit the following letter to the WGAW Film Society Selection Committee. Thank you.
Dear WGAW Film Society Selection Committee:
I'm writing to express my disappointment at your exclusion of Mel Gibson's "The Passion of The Christ" from all of our upcoming Film Society screenings.
From a Guild which has been very vocal on the blacklisting of dissident writers, your actions smack of a blacklist. Please be advised that as a UCLA Cum Laude graduate with a degree in Classical Civilizations, which focused on the Roman period from 100 BC to 300 AD, I found "The Passion of The Christ" to be accurate on all historical aspects.
In my view, the Guild should encourage debate on controversial matters not try to squelch it. But perhaps I shouldn't be too surprised by this WGAW Film Society decision since my Guild blacklisted me for protesting a CBS "access" program, endorsed by the Writers Guild in violation of our MBA contract, under which professional Latino writers were hired for half of our contractual minimum--simply by virtue of being Latinos.
Once again, I consider your recent decision vis-a-vis "The Passion of The Christ" to be discriminatory and highly HYPOCRITICAL, and hope that the Committee seriously reconsiders its exclusion of this wonderful film.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter, as I remain,

Controversial? What's controversial about this film? I would strike that sentence.
I'm not naive. I also do not accept that the film has created a controversy. Liberals created it. They did so in order to attack a Christian film. Convenient isn't it.
