Miss VC has relatives that live in that area, Rome, Ga. I've heard alot about this case and here is my take:

Mr. Dixon had a scholorship to Vanderbilt, which is not a prototypical southern football school in that people actually have to have grades to attend.

Vanderbilt ain't FSU or Miami. I've seen players turned down by Vanderbilt for minor stuff. Mr. Dixon was very clean to be accepted.

I have no doubt in my mind that the sex between Dixon and the minor was consensual, and the sentence was way too harsh.

Cold blooded murderers have gotten less.(Carolina Panther Fred Lane's wife got 8 years for murdering him in cold blood.)

From what I've heard, the only reason the girl claimed that Dixon raped her was she was because of her parents.

I've got a 15 year old daughter, and if she was the girl in this case, I still wouldn't think the sentence was justified.
