I just heard that Marcus Dixon has been convicted of child molestation. Ten years in prison...a complete outrage esp. since the girl said she lied anout the rape.

I agree. If this law is going to be applied, then it should applied consistently and not because mommy and daddy got upset at who this girl picked for a boyfriend.

Since when do parents decide the sentencing of convicted felons? I was under the impression that judges do that. Besides such an argument is silly. Its akin to the Rats excusing Buba's lying under oath as those mean nasty Republicans were after him.

If she was afraud for her parents to know she'd had consensual sex with a black guy, she never should have gone to the school authorities immediately after it happened and said it was rape! That is naturally going to bring in the police AND her parents, immediately and irrevocably. If she really wanted to keep it from them she would have kept her mouth shut.
You were the one who originally said "especially since the girl said she lied about the rape", that hasn't been supported by anything I've seen, and it's really crucial IMO as to whether this guy should get his sentence overturned or reduced. That and the extent of her injuries, which engendered the aggravated child molestation charge. That's just the way *I* see it. Busloads of supporters don't erase facts. Or they shouldn't...
To: KantianBurke
No parents don't decide the sentencing, but from what I hear from people who live there, her parents threw the book at him for an issue that could be solved between the parents privately.

I didn't come to that conclusion on my own. That's what I heard from the news. The jury acquited him of rape and that's that. Better to cry rape and have parents defend you. But we have a difference of opinion and I'm not going to discuss it any further.

What's the difference between 15.75 and 16 yearss of age? Apparently 10 years.
To: wattsmag2
Apparently so. Parents better tell their sons hands off down there.

You sure see racism everywhere. Bull! And a number of FR members can vouch for me on that.
Messrs. jwalsh07, Southack, and Sabertooth, do I "sure see racism everywhere?" Be honest.
Race has nothing to do with this.
It has everything to do with your vitriol in this case. And this isn't the first time for you, either. You've said the same on other similar issues and you know it. I'm just man enough to pull your damned card on it.
Read your response and see how absurd it sounds.
Sure. Whatever.
My point is: leave children alone, let them have their childhood.
He's 18 and a senior. She's 15 and a freshman. Children? What the hell are they if they are not both children? You attempt to make him sound like he's middle-aged. They are high school students, and no matter how you cut it, they are children. The age of 18 does not confer adult status in maturity on anyone. It was just convenient for him to be this age in this case.
This goes for all races, ethnic groups, and religions.
Yeah. Sure.
I have absolutely no sympathy for the ACLU (white) who is fighting on behalf of NAMBLA.
Umm, so? Since this is not concerning neither the ACLU nor NAMBLA, I could care less for whom you have sympathy.
Same goes for the demented priests (white) who raped children, or the pedophiles (young or old) who are trying to lower the age of consent and present twisted rationalization on behalf of sex with children.
Again, so? This is not about priests.

I *know* you heard it on the news. It wasn't repeated in the next hour or the next, though.
And I don't want to discuss it anymore either, unless an article that answers some of my questions presents itself.
To: cyborg
Thanks. I know I'll be having a nice day cause there's one less pervert scumag out on the streets irrespective of your "free Mumia" act.

Given the estimates that 1/2 of all teenatgers will contract STD's that would be a wise precaution to take with both sons and daughters.
To: wattsmag2
I saw that story too. All the more reason not to have 'safe sex' but more abstainence only classes and 'army training film' style STD education.

Some people here sure get personal as IF they have a vested interest in the issue.

I misread your statement which I apologize for. I question your strident position on why he's a sexual predator, but I'll have to just say we have a disagreement.
I try not to make things personal, but I'm amazed at the reaction to this story as opposed to other stories.
