Suicide bombers are an extremely short range weapon with a quick fuse. Look at how the Israelis just building a wall has almost stopped them over there.

I didn't say that. The most likely targets for suicide bombings are cities with high population densities and where even high income people ride on public transportation. Most busses I see in my hometown are mostly empty, and the few passengers on them are low income and welfare recipients. It's just ironic that it is people living in the highest risk target areas tend to be the least supportive of making preemptive attacks of terrorists.

I think you're right, and the concern that gives me is that if it gets out of hand, i.e. many Arabs are killed, it would give the government the opportunity to call Martial Law. IF it got too bad, I wonder if they could use that excuse to confiscate guns? I worry about my guns. lol

Our day will come. The only question remaining will be how we respond to it. I see three potential outcomes:

1) Increased Xenophobia

2) Governmental Expansion

3) Liberal Paralysis

Although I would prefer "None of the above", of the three I would choose the first. We know who this enemy is, what they look like, what language they speak, and the fact that are unlikely to be U.S. citizens. This isn't Israel, physical differences are clear and we don't have to permit foreign nationals unfettered mobility.

My prediction is that our actual response will be a combination of the above, but heavily favoring the last two. I base this mostly on the fact that even after the coordinated attacks on NY and DC, we are still wasting time strip searching airport passengers looking for cuticle cutters rather than "profile" and questioning the only people likely to commit terrorism. As a country, we have a great deal of growing up left to do and I fear we will adapt too slowly to a growing threat.

It is false that suicide bombings are on the increase in Iraq. While the violent events are on the decline there never were that many with suicide bombers. Roadside explosive devices are the favorite manner of killing our soldiers. They are slightly more effective than RATmedia lies.
