Tom DeLay shares that winning attitude. Nobody accuses him of being a RINO. RINOs are indeed losers because they throw overboard reasons for conservatives to prefer them to Democrats in the hope of gaining swing votes who really want *leadership* and how can you be a 'leader' failing to stand for anything controversial? Yet the Democrats stay energized when moderates run. when faced between the choice of 2 Democrats the real one wins every time. Ask Senator Matt Fong if you doubt me. :-)

That's a liberal media view of what happened; ad hominem perception not the reality of such things, which are created by the media. That spin is only countered if you have the intelectual spine to counter unfair lies. It is never countered when the GOP is too intellectually feeble to respond or even worse plays into liberals' hands by validating such ad hominem attacks ( as you sadly do). Like or dislike prop 187, it is a lie and a slander to say it is 'racist' - its about upholding the law (and we can see what a mess our immigration system is in due to failure to uphold that law). The truth is, the most anti-racist man in america is Ward Connerly. ... but you wont hear that from the media. We shouldnt cry about that unfairness, we should fight it.

We need to defend honorably positions that defend freedom and conservative values. we wont win all races but we will win more races running on a positive and meaningful agenda. In the end, WINNING THE BATTLE OF IDEAS REQUIRES THAT YOU HAVE IDEAS, DEFEND IDEAS, AND CHALLENGE THE WRONG IDEAS OF THE OTHER SIDE.

If California Republican leaders can do that, they can win. If they dont, they will lose. It's that simple.

Spin, hell. My father told me before the 1994 election exactly what he'd do with Wilson's anti-immigrant insanity, and afterwards he went out and persuaded Panetta to do it. The Clinton Administration poured federal money into immigrant naturalization in California 1995-96, and had the DNC register almost all of them as Democrats here. Look at the before and after 1994 statistics!

By your logic, Clinton's anti-terrorism policy was a flaming success. 9/11 didn't happen on his watch and it is only conservative spin that blames him for 9/11.

Denial is a river in California too. That's why the GOP here is the success it is today.
