Boyle's activism rises to forefront [human shield wannabe in trouble again]

The Rev. Frederick Boyle, whose anti-war activism preceded his reassignment last year from the Millbrook United Methodist Church in Randolph, is facing a new controversy.

Approximately 100 congregants at the Titusville United Methodist Church in Hopewell, where Boyle was moved last July following a pre-war trip to Iraq, met Sunday with Methodist church leaders to discuss his ongoing activism.

This guy got lots of positive hoopla from our local leftist rag, the Daily Record -- until they realized he was making a fool of himself (and his congregation was upset by his antics too).

Btw, I'm surpised the Methodist church bigs are giving Boyle a hard time about his 'activisim.' I would think they'd be in sync with his thinking. The congregations must've raised a stink to get the honchos' attention.

Stating that The United Methodist Church is a Cult just shows that you and your comment are quite uninformed on The United Methodist Church. Weather you agree or disagree with the Methodists stance is irrelevent, when using the word cult, know exactly what it means, not what you want it to mean.
BTW- I have heard that many United Methodist Pastors are taking a large number of their members to see the movie and then discussing it. You thought something else???

The reason I remembered is my kid lives in NJ and she thought, quite rightly, that he was a total idiot. They needed 1. to get Saddam outta there and 2. food. What they didn't need was some fool playing the flute.

Nice twist to your argument however inaccurate. No the United Methodist Church does not endorse gay marriage nor do they support abortion. What the United Methodist Church does endorse is a persons free will and personal responsibility. That does seem to go in line with this form. More to your point of the EUB. You really have to reach to state something so goofy. The United Methodist Church is no more of a cult than any other MAIN STREAM DENOMINATION. Please get you facts straight before throwing such unfounded accusations. There is no suicide in the United Methodist Church and I am quite offended by such a remark.

Exactly. Someone who really understands the Christian faith, and believes in it, would not pose that way.

I left the United Methodist Church in 1972 when I returned home on leave from the US Naval Academy and attended services in my dress whites with my parents.

After we had gone in and been seated, but before the services actually began, the minister sent some of the ushers out to ask my parents and I to come to his office. While there, he asked me if I wouldn't be more comfortable attending services in civilian clothes. When I said that I would not, he pointedly informed me that he didn't feel that it was appropriate that I should be wearing a military uniform in the church and requested that I leave and come back after I changed. Needless to say, I left.

But I didn't change.

Quite unfortunate that it happened, but he did not speak for all United Methodists, he spoke for himself. 1972 however was a different era than where we are now. What he did was wrong!
