If a finger pointed in the forest and no one saw it would anyone be to blame...?

He sounds ignorant to me. Maybe willfully ignorant, but ignorant of the basic teaching of the church he represents nonetheless.

Everyone has lost sight of the sacrifice.
Only "the chosen people" could make the sacirfice.
Only their priests could select the lamb for the sacrifice
The actual sacrifice had to be done by the tools of the priests.
Our sins would not be forgiven without the sacrifice.
Finally, because all is not yet fulfilled, the work of "the chosen people" is not finished.

But of course the movie has done so much to draw Catholics and evangelicals together, so much soi that the alttter have put aside their prejudices to a remarkable degree. I gather they have a better understanding of his sacrifice than many, too many Catholic priests.

...but Monsignor Kenneth Lasch, a retired priest who lives in Morristown, said he often attends the festivities and has no problem with NOW's participation....
"It's an open society and people have the right to express themselves, and the parade organizers have the right to make the decision," Lasch said. "That's the way life is in America."
