It could be argued, quite persuasively, that president bush will say or do whatever it takes to be elected.
On this very forum there have been countless threads touting the brilliance of our president for "stealing the democrats' issues". This approach makes him an effective politician.
With the race shaping up to be much the same as 2000, would it be so far fetched to consider using a "big news event" like the one mentioned, for political benefit?
Anyone with a "brain that works" can see the wisdom in such an approach, right?
If you wish to believe that our beloved president is somehow "above" such mundane pursuits, that is your prerogative.
Most people would at least consider that emotional stance to be naive.
