[history]
The borrowing authorized by Prop. 57 makes little sense without a strong spending cap, which companion Prop. 58 does not provide.
Thanks to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's persuasive powers, recent polls show a dramatic turnaround in the percentage of California voters backing the governor's pet initiatives, Propositions 57 and 58. Prop. 57, which would float a $15 billion bond to pay for the deficits created under the Davis administration, and Prop. 58, which requires the state to enact a balanced budget, are now likely to pass.

On the Beltway Boys last night, Fred Barnes said both prop 57 and 58 were going to pass and should. They said there wasnt any real opposition, just some Democrat official and McClintock both arguing against it on talk radio. There is no anti TV and very effective Arnold commercials in favor.

Fred Barnes couldn't find the 405 from LAX with a map. LOL And Barnes sure knows "nada" about CA politics. He predicted the failure of the recall early and had to eat crow. So I wouldn't place any bets on Fred Barnes' "predictions." ROFLMAO Just another "talking head" who never found his way out of DC.

Polls show both propositions carrying more than 50% of the vote while the no vote was in the low 30's...so tell me again you are winning.

Seems like some of the people who shout RINO into the bushes at random just in case are actively trying to derail anything Arnold does just so they can gloat that he failed to be the Conservinator.

"And are we still waiting for the final McClintock surge?" nooooo but with every day that passes by genius, more and more Californians are wishing they had voted for a real "dyed in the wool" conservative instead of a RINO! Point, Game, Set, Match! Were you born a jerk or do you have to work at it on a daily basis? ROFLMAO I am trying to inform those who aren't fully aware of the propositions so that they might make an intelligent decision and all you can do is sit on your behind hiding behind your computer and make moronic cracks. I told you last year that your inane remarks were neither appreciated or would be responded to. Everyone on this forum would appreciate it if you would learn some manners! Good day!

Errr, speaking strictly as a disinterested outside observer, it does not appear to me that Dave S is the one who needs etiquette lessons here.

kellynla I don't
recall that being the case.

So do you stand on your head when you make moronic remarks? Arnold has a hugely popular job performance rating. He's also one of the most popular politicians in the country. He's getting things done that lazy eye McClintock could only dream of. Oh by the way I said that Arnold was going to win big time and you said McClintock was going to win and you think you have a better track record of predictions?

So do you stand on your head when you make moronic remarks? No, but you're close. Kelly ROFLMAOs, or "rolls on floor laughing [his] ass off," in virtually every post. No headstands yet, however. Not that I've seen.

For somebody from Missouri, you sure seem to know a lot about California political figures and figureheads... and revel in jabbing certain folks at FR who don't tow the Ahnold line.
The first statement in the article mentions the Gub's persuasive powers... what a crock. That you crow about his approval ratings(based on what?) and such, is indicative of how shallow most folks are these days and why this state and nation wallows in massive deficits.
Gullibility is the key trait that politicals appeal to these days, Arnold just had a big Q factor.
Just do what is popular, who cares if it is right?
