Why does he have Secret Service protection now? Thought he didn't get it untill he is the official nominee.

Well....he pretty much is the official nominee at this point. BUT - I believe that the top-tier candidates get SS protection around the time Iowa starts. I would bet Edwards has a few agents, but doubt that Sharpton and Kuccinch are being guarded. I don't have a problem with it, and they can use it as training for younger agents or easy service for those near retirement age.
