Given as I've never fired a .30-30 at a bullet-proof vest, I'll have to take your word for it. I have, though, shot a 150-grain .30-30 (roundnose) at a 2-by-8 at 100 yards and it didn't penetrate all the way through that, but it sure flattened out a bunch.
