This is not an attack on the poster, rather a comment on the group as a whole.

Howard Stern is number one in every market he's entered. The Arbitron numbers show that, and that's been consistent for the past 15 years. That sounds a lot to me like the people have spoken, and they like what they're hearing. To be perfectly clear here the American people didn't get him fired - as a matter of fact, based solely on the numbers that all radio stations care about, Arbitron, the American people love him.

90% of you have never listened to a word he's said yet are glad he got "fired." He didn't get fired. He was removed from six channels where his syndicated show aired. He was removed because of a comment that a caller made. Quit jerking your knees.

I listen to him from time to time and exercise the right to change the channel when I feel like it, and often I do because sometimes it's just too much, but I would never, ever dare to tell someone that they can't listen to him, or rejoice in the news that six stations pulled his voice.

You cite the Arbitron ratings that he is #1 in every market he has entered.

Is that #1 in total number of listeners over all other programs at any time of the day, or just #1 in his target demographic (like 13-24 year-olds), or just number one in his time slot, or just #1 in his category of radio (shock jock vs. news-talk radio)?

If it is #1 in total number of listeners over all other programs at any time of the day, I'd be impressed. If it is #1 in the shock jock category with 13-24 year olds, that is not that impressive. Does Rush have more listeners on a given day?

Thank you for being a voice of principle.

Let no freedom of speech be abridged.

Not Howard's. Not Rush's. Not Jim Robinson's. Not mine.

Without freedom of speech, America is dead.

If Bush is somehow responsible for this, in the same way he was responsible for signing the CFR when he could have vetoed it, he does not believe freedom of speech should not be abridged. Therefore, he is a danger to the Republic.

Number one in every market? Hmmm... He got dropped from a local station here a while ago. He had been on for almost three years. Now he's gone.

Howard has fallen into the typical and predictable liberal trap of blaming someone else for his own actions. It's called personal responsibility, Howard. Until you can find that, you'll be blaming everyone else for your mistakes.

I can't believe that most of the board thinks like this. I agree, his ratings should be the basis on which he is judged. I don't understand how this board can't see that if he is pushed off the air, it is only a matter of time before Rush Limbaugh is pushed off the air when a Democrat President is in office. If they can take Stern off the air, they can take anyone off the air.

That is not true. There were several cities he flopped in, a number of cities he's still not No. 1 in, and he's not even the No. 1 show in his home base of NYC anymore.
