Number one in every market? Hmmm... He got dropped from a local station here a while ago. He had been on for almost three years. Now he's gone.

Howard has fallen into the typical and predictable liberal trap of blaming someone else for his own actions. It's called personal responsibility, Howard. Until you can find that, you'll be blaming everyone else for your mistakes.

When profits are low the suits have their OWN jobs on the line.

This is kind of humerous. The powers at CC are afraid of lawyers, lawsuits and fines. Howard is railing against Bush. Edwards is the lawyer this election cycle.

Howie's head must be spinning.

I can't believe that most of the board thinks like this. I agree, his ratings should be the basis on which he is judged. I don't understand how this board can't see that if he is pushed off the air, it is only a matter of time before Rush Limbaugh is pushed off the air when a Democrat President is in office. If they can take Stern off the air, they can take anyone off the air.

The key is whether this is Clear Channel changing their policy because they don't like what is on their stations, or is this being done by some (overt or covert) governmental pressure. If the government is censoring free speech, that is one thing - and we should fight it - but if it is just a corporation making a business decision based on their read of the public, that is OK in a free country.

See the difference?

I don't blame Stern. If someone appointed some FCC clowns to take me off the air, I'd be going after them 100%.

And this is bad precident. What in the blue hell is 'indecency'? My definition is a bunch of jackbooted government bureaucratic thugs.

I can see this being used by a democrat president to try and get Rush, Mancow Muller, Hannity, Savage, or many others off the air.

Censorship by government is wrong.

See it's all about Howard. When 9-11 happened, Howard was VERY pro-Bush. Said Bush was what this country needs. Now that he has gotten himself into trouble, it's all Bush's fault, the country and it's leadership needs in a time of war be damned. How selfish.

How typical of yet another "I can say and do anything I want because I'm a celebrity." Howard knows damned well his only chance of staying on the airwaves is to befriend the left. They know to throw free speech tantrums when it comes to championing vulgarity, don'tcha know.

Yep, Howard's got one thing right. It's all GWB's fault.... for being a strong Christian leader and confronting evil everyday and defeating it, thanks to God's help.

Thanks to Mel Gibson's masterpiece, "The Passion of The Christ", and our God loving President, the left and Satan are getting very shrill. We need to get used to it, and so do they.

All I know is that we had a great FM station here in Philly in the 1980s, and Stern came along and literally ridiculed all the morning DJ's, calling them names like pussy and stuff, while declaring he was gonna kick ass.

Yep .. I remember that ..

No one has to listen to his immature, questionable show. Well, I suppose the religious fanatics need to listen to his immature, questionable show so that they can be the sole judges of all that is moral, but I'm pretty sure no one else HAS to listen to him.

First .. I'm not a religious fanatic

Second .. I'm not the type of person that shocks easily .. Stern managed to do that

Third .. If you read some of the post here .. they did listen to him and like me .. tuned Stern out

Yes, Stern may be allowed on the air .. but I won't shed any tears for Stern being called to the mat because his OWN actions

Stern needs to take responsibility for things he does and stop sounding like a whinnie liberal and blaming everyone else

Censorship by government is wrong.

First .. Stern is not being censored by the government .. Clear Channel doesn't want to pay for the fines they know Howard will bring.

Stern can always pay the fines out of his own pocket ..

And yes I can understand your point about a Dem president

Look ... as much as I hate Democrats/Liberals and I will defend their right to be on the air.

However, Stern is a rude, crude and obnoxious pig and I cannot and will not defend him .. is it at all possible for Stern to do a show without describing on air in detail about all the sex acts happening in his studio???

It's about time.

NOTE TO STERN: Now that you have no radio forum, I doubt the Hustler Babes will be giving your free BJ's. If you're lucky, maybe you can beg your wife to take you back and you can salvage your life and make your children proud.

It's been made clear that Clear Channel et. al. are responding to increased government surveillance which will lead to monetary fines and perhaps jail time for breaking "decency" laws.

Dan, I often disagree with you, but I like the fact that you are principled. So thanks for staying true to them.

Those "decency" laws have been on the books for a long time ... Stern choose to ignore them and now he is being called to the mat on them

The FCC is a bit late with the fire-hose -- Nero's incineration of Rome is already in ashes...

Stern and his boring freak-show ensemble should have been disposed of 10 years ago.

when 9/11 happened. if you were listening to howard that day you would have been privy to his humanity. it was a forum for callers to express their fears and anger. he remained on the air for hours and it became "we're all in this together".
my husband and i have listened to him for many years and i don't believe we're into coprophilia, necrophilia or beastiality. i'm an editor, my husband is a lawyer. we're not stupid people. but we do like to laugh. i find howard honest (he admits to his sadness over the divorce, and visits to his psychiatrist). he isn't a hypocrite. i know that for a fact.
if you've never listened to him your criticisms are totally invalid, but that's OK. just don't take away my right to hear him. shut your radio or tune it to another station. there are enough choices for everyone, this is america.
