Attention ladies, take heart and give heed, it's your special year.

Every fourth year or "leap year," as we call it, can be truly major for you in terms of courtship and romance. Why? According to a very ancient tradition, this is a year during which ladies have a right to propose to the man or men of their choice. Although, technically, this action can be done during any time of the leap year, St. Valentine's Day or February 29 were the two days considered the most appropriate. This custom, according to legend, was first instituted by a seemingly unlikely pair of historical figures -- St. Patrick and St. Bridget.

's okay. (Click on the image.) Sadie Hawkins' Day persisted into the 1960s and there it died, a victim of Political Correctness.

Heck, I can remember them having one of those Sadie Hawkins dances when I was in high school. I didn't go. Never could get up the nerve to ask a guy out. Though the mere thought of it gave me a greater appreciation for what guys go through just to approach a gal.

I'm just glad Mr. Gun has a tendency to go after what he wants.

It must have lasted longer than that in some places, at least - I remember an annual Sadie Hawkins dance when I was in high school, and that was the mid-80's...

Mel is aging quite nicely, isn't he?! Did you all see his interview with O'Reilly on Fox News? Ah, that twinkle in his eye, that flashing smile....

Blech. Aside from the fact that he's been with J-Ho and Gwynnie the Puke, he's a kneejerk leftist nitwit who confuses navel-gazing with profound thought.
