Home invasion rocks peaceful neighborhood

Lawrenceville's Oakland Walk community, scene of a home invasion robbery Wednesday morning, just isn't the type of place where crime comes knocking, one of the subdivision's residents says.
"Very quiet," said Dee Hodges, who has lived there nearly five years. "Nothing ever goes on."
The tranquility she cherishes was shattered when five men burst into a home around the corner from Hodges, tied up two women and a 6-year-old girl who live there, and demanded money, jewels and CDs. The suspects, armed with handguns, entered the two-story house through a back entrance, and fled in the residents' white 1997 Plymouth minivan, police said.
Three other children living in the home were not harmed, police said.
One of the women told police that she was sexually assaulted during the attack, Gwinnett police Sgt. Richard Long said.
Police have not identified the women or children, but say it's possible the victims know their assailants.

Amazing how the truth is now relative...everywhere. My wife at work heard one woman mention something about the Catholic priests accused of sexual misconduct. Several other Catholics jumped her and asked her if it actually happened to her, if she was actually there, etc. The truth has become what people want to hear.

We are diversifying ourselves into oblivion, internally and by external forces.
I guess locking yourself in your bedroom and dialing 911 isn't working out too well in the Atlanta area, is it?
Indeed. Less partisanship, more comity, which the Pubbies try to provide to a fault sometimes.
Not that I'm real happy with the state of the Republican Party. I read these outsourcing, NAFTA/FTAA and loss of sovereignty threads with great concern.
No, no worse than anywhere else. The establishment police and press defintely question the actions of citizens to use force to defend life, property and the rule of law.
This has to change.
A high school coach, his kid, and grandmas getting shot to death in similar crimes in the area, and not word about the description of the bad guys. Strange.....
At my house, Messrs. Mossberg, Smith-Wesson, and Ruger would have given the perp a hot reception. And another, if my 14-year-old had her gun handy (it normally lives in our under-bed quick-access gunsafe. . .)
