Thank you, archy.
Directing others to your posts and comments re. Haiti.
There is no guarantee that Guy Philippe will ascend to head of state in Haiti, nor that he will be a beneficial or benign executive if he does; and there is no guarantee that he will survive this weekend, either.
But it's difficult to imagine how he might be more damaging to his nation and people than Aristide has been, and if the opportunity does come his way, I hope he'll make the best of it.
And I've pitched an interesting idea for an interview and report with Philippe to an editor pal. We'll see what he thinks of my clever interview idea, and maybe I can come up with an interesting question or two myself.

Hope your editor friend listens. (^:
If he does survive this weekend and turns out to be a nice guy it will go against all of Hatian history.
Rebels Attack Haiti's Second-Largest City
Walter Eussenius, owner of the Mont Joli Hotel in Cap Haitien, said rebels moved into the city about 10 a.m. Sunday. They spelled his last name spectacularly wrong - perhaps on purpose. But it's definitely him. I've stayed in the hotel many times, strange to see guys with rifles prowling the very spot where I lounged by the hotel pool back in 1968 . . ."The population is terrorized and the city is completely surrounded," Eussenius told CNN in a telephone interview. Machine gun fire could be heard in the background as he spoke.
"They came in, went by the port, locked it up," he said. "They locked up the international airport, roamed through town firing and commandeered the prison, released the prisoners."
Eussenius said the situation in the city was "very chaotic" and the police force appeared to have withdrawn.
"Who is in control? I don't know," he said.
Makes sense, because the hotel is on a very steep hill that overlooks the town.
Everybody pray for Walkie, please!
