I live in remote Alaska. While building our house, I insist that we schwack down all the trees within about 300 feet of the house. It lets the sun shine in and provides lots of fire wood for the stove and opens up garden areas and keeps the animals in the trees where they aren't disturbed and protects the house. Lots of tree huggers complain that I am destroying the environment. Quite the contrary.. I thin the woods on my land so that more of the trees (in the forest) get a real chance at growing fat and tall. Being safe, smart and helping God's work along a little bit, does not have anything to do with being against nature.
