[history]
From the moment the former secretary of state announced that he wanted to take on two-term incumbent Sen. Barbara Boxer, the veteran politician has been looking beyond Tuesday's primary.
It's not that he's taking it for granted, he says. But he can't afford to spend too much money or let any chance go by to criticize his potential Democratic challenger. Besides, he's got the governor on his side.

Just because they have an "R" by their name, doesn't mean you should vote for them. Right Jim?

Strange primary campaign. Almost deadly silence until 3 days before the election. Almost as if no one cared.
My guess is that this "non campaign" is driven by three factors:
1) The money doesn't think Boxer can be beat
2) The electorate is worn out after the recall
3) The Republican Party in California is in a state of total disarray.

AHNOLD should have held off and ran against BoXer,, but being the opportunist he is, well, here we are... about to go over the falls again..
Deja P..U
THE CA GOP leadership deserves to have its arse whipped in public for the shenanigans of the last 4 years in this state.

AHNOLD should have held off and ran against BoXer Absolutely. His public persona and his social philosophy would have stunned Boxer. She would have been left carping about his "ungentlemanly" behavior, a non issue considering her demeanor.
Instead we have a state full of turmoil as the electorate becomes aware the Schwarzenegger has no magic answers, can't control the entrenched legislature and constantly looks to the electorate for guidance. Schwarzenegger's vague promises, almost bullet points in nature, followed up by an appeal to the electorate for support has both conservatives and moderates yearning for more concrete actions as the state continues down a well worn path.

"The focus is on the state issues, the Democratic primary on the presidential level," says GOP state chairman Duff Sundheim. "I think there are such monumental things going on that it just sucks up all the oxygen." Duf? Or Duff Man?

Bill Jones will be crushed by Barbara Boxer. He's got enough questionable dealings in his background as a corporate welfare farmer that she'll never shut up about them.
