Well, the Bible itself contains multiple corroborative testimonies that the events did happen. There are no accounts that the events in question (particularly the events surrounding his death) -didn't- happen. We also have 2000 years of those events creating the largest religion in the world.
What, do you think the -entire thing- was completely faked? Lemme guess, was it by a bunch of oil guys in Texas?
That seems rather tin-foil to me, honestly.

It was truly all of us who crucified Jesus - BUT....
It was the Jews that God chose, as his chosen people, to actually carry out the sentence. Does that mean we should "blame the Jews" ? Of course not. But any denial that the Jews had anything to do with the Crucifixion is just plain misguided.

That's curious... on what do your base your faith in the Bible's historical accuracy if you call yourself an agnostic?Interesting...why would you assume anything else?

Not to go down a different path here, but isn't it amazing how we are supposed to act like homosexuality is okay but don't dare talk about the details of what they actually do!

Not a defense for me! I much more prefer Hitch's more sensible, realistic, non-Wilsonian brother who opposed the Iraq. BTW, Mel Gibson is also antiwar and has poked fun at the failure to find WMD.

"Christians are among the strongest supporters the Jews have. The Left, who are the true anti-semites and who have been posing as protectors of the Jews ever since it became convenient once Hitler broke his pact with Uncle Joe, know this, and rather than lose their status as "protectors of Jews", they're waging this massive propaganda campaign. That's -all- this is about." <------- Ding ding ding ding -- Winner!

No but there is little evidence that Jesus existed outside of a personal relationship with Him. There is no evidence He was merely a prophet or great teacher. He was either the Son of God or it is a lie.

Uhhh, yeah, the main person in the Crucifixion, the person who got Crucified was a Jew you know.

Wow. And to think I used to think there was hope for Hitchens. Too bad, he's just sunk to the bottom of the pile.Dont despair. There IS hope for Hitchens and all of us until the last breath is drawn. I truly believe well never know the full impact of this film in our lifetime. Never under estimate the power of the Holy Spirit who draws ALL men to the Father. I am convinced this film is having a seriously impact on the agonist and atheist reviewers. And someday they and us all will have to answer for our actions, words, and deeds.

"The Jews are condemned --- historically and by some Christians today --- for not converting." this doesn't square with the rest of your post (which i agree with btw).

The Romans and the Jews were mere bit players. We all did it.

BEcause if we did, then we'd really how much of a perversion it is. Like Mad Mo consummating his marriage wiht a 6 year old or ancient Greek women having it on with bulls, peacocks etc.
Pass THAT to hitchens. Where does he stand when people try to pervert children? And that goes for the smutt dons like Hefner too.

How do you feel about that quote, jboot? What does it mean to you in this context? What signicance do you see in the fact that it refers to Jews?
BTW, I have posted on other threads that the ADL and other Jewish critics run the danger of being anti Christian if they attack this movie, as it is pretty much on target regarding scripture, far as I know.
My position is that Christianity is not anti semitic. However, I have been told by some that my family and me will burn in hell because we don't see the light. Perhaps that's not anti semitic, merely someone looking out for our good, eh?
