Agreed. I already have been corrected and noted in my post #260 that I shouldn't attempt to post here before I'm fully awake on a Saturday AM. 8~)

It does appear, though, that the 30-06 has a much greater velocity than both the 7.62X39 and the 30-30. As I recall (at least I think I do), the 30-06 is akin to the M1 Garand, right?

I did have the superiority of the 30-06 correctly in mind but got my numbers wrong. Thanks for the good info and your willingness to share your knowledge and keen eye for facts and errors.....

The Garand fires the 30-06, although some have been converted to 7.62X51. So did it's predecessors the M1903 Springfield and the M1917 Enfield.
