one attempt at a cure for this amendment crap is what several states do. They put a clause in the state constitution that says that bills "shall embrace but one subject." That limits some of the BS but not all. There are other underlying fundamental issues here that would be a show stopper but nobody wants to hear it so I'll let it slide.

To do that on the federal level would require another amendment, which would bring us that much closer to a con-con.
