Consider that this movie is "cutting edge".
Al the homophile, relative morality, christian ridiculing, a-moral tripe they made saying they were only reflecting society is now proven false.
I submit this is not a conservative "story" but a good "story". It just so happens that conservative in everyone has been hungering for a good story.
Here is the other show. Each of these people who is selling out theaters weeks in advance is not only a vote for the passion, it is a message that much of what they have on their shelves is destined for failure because the audience for "the passion" is not automatically going to go to the usual hollyweird tripe.
They have completly miss judged audiences and who is an available audience. They could have been making so much more money if they had not been so self absorbed.
(Out of curiosity, I wonder how many parents are taking their children to see this?)

One of the best parts of this show was at the end, after Prince sang, he turned to Gibson and said, "Mel Gibson! Wanna catch a movie after we're done here?"
It was priceless and the crowd loved it!

Well, the local NBC station (KNTV-11) here in the SF Bay Area had the usual report: violence, gore, concerns about anti-Semitism, and interviews with a rabbi, a monsignor and a biblical scholar saying it wasn't historically accurate, that it made the Romans look good and made the Jews look bad and bloodthirsty, etc.
Any positive reviews to balance the story?
No.

(Out of curiosity, I wonder how many parents are taking their children to see this?)We went with a single mother friend on opening night. She is bringing her 13-year-old twins today and we will accompany them. We can't wait to see it again. Every parent I know is seeing the movie first, before deciding whether they will bring their children. I wish more parents would preview/judge the appropriateness of the content of EVERY film and TV show, as well as that of songs, books, and other forms of artistic expression before giving their permission to their children to have at it. I also wish more parents would discuss the content of these things after the fact with their children in the same way/to the same extent that parents are discussing "The Passion" with their offspring. Perhaps this movie will be the beginning of such a movement. ( :
