Early detractors of Mel Gibson's hit film, "The Passion of the Christ," are backing away from their critical remarks after the movie grossed a record-setting $26.6 million on its opening day.

"The Passion," which opened Wednesday on 4,643 screens at 3,006 theaters, set a record for the biggest opening day for a movie released outside the summer (May-August) and winter holiday months (November-December).

"Do we need to remind them how ugly that chapter was? They, who were once blacklisted, now turn around and blacklist one of their own? Shameful. Really really shameful."

I'll agree that that period (McCarthy era) was ugly and shameful, but more for what was done -to- McCarthy than anything he did.

Hair Kerry is namby pamby, it's the hallmark of his career, and a big reason to doubt his ability to collect all that brass in four short months in Nam.

Even then he was being groomed for putrification of the office he infests by someone. The entire Nam affairs needs to be investigated. This wuss will never be President of the USofA unless vote fraud gets him there.

I agree that his Nam affairs need to be investigated thoroughly!

I know this may sound petty, but that head of hair on him creeps me out. Is it a wig or a toupee? It doesn't look natural...

Just goes to show that the Hollywood nit wits don't have a clue

I think that is an understatement. They just live in another world.

"If not, [Hollywood] will leave itself open to charges of antireligious prejudice," he said. Many in the industry, he added, "are prostitutes, and they will go wherever the money is."

And they obviosly support a Crucifix in a jar of urine as an art form.

I don't know if it's real or not, but his stylist should be brought up before the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity.

Senator McCarthy had nothing to do with the House Committee on UnAmerican Activities, which did investigate the movie industry. It was the movie bigwigs who did the blacklisting. The California House also investigated communists in the movie industry. There were many .

Senator Mc Carthy's committee investigated Communists in government...We also had useful idiots,as we do today.

Not sure if Kerry should see this film or not. He should take a hint from Bible where somewhere it says "let your yes be yes and your no be no" (or something along those lines).

The only people who found this movie controversial is holywood insiders. Its the devaints who found this movie contradicting their hedonistic worldview.

It seems the rest of the world found this move to be:
a work of art
a work of beauty
a work of love.
