Besides forsake New Paltz for seven times seven generations, who knows what to do. FReep? Hang our heads in shame that we live in close proximity? I can't make the call on this one.

I'm in Plattekill

I once did a protest with my mother and a nice man from Plattekill and his wife (then fiance) were there. I believe they were FReepers, actually! It was near the Galleria on Route 9. Anyone you know or was it someone else I'm thinking of?

Oh, the memories...

The IRS should issue a warning that the M-M, F-F, M-animal, F-animal couples do not qualify as MARRIED for tax purposes. That should cause some to pause!

ROsie O donut gets married in SF and now a town in NY is doing Gay Marriages

HERE IS THE SET UP PEOPLE!!! Now Rosie can go to new PUTZ (oops did I spell that wrong?) and request they recognize her California Marriage.

IF they do, the precedent of another state recognizing a gay marraige is set. If they Refuse, then the case can be taken to Federal Court to FORCE them to recognize it.

THIS IS THE PLAN! They are trying to endrun or kill DOMA!

It was the plan all along. My guess though is that the radical left will see this snap back in their faces via electoral backlash.

No, that was the one last year (which I might add was only a few minutes from my house but I didn't know about it until AFTER it was over).

I'm talking about one that was done several years ago. It was during the impeachment era and the man had a bullhorn. I vividly remember him shouting at the cars: "We believe Juanita--Rapist in the White House!"

It was during a snowstorm, as I recall.

A good time was had by all.

Let the divorce wars, child custody and sperm custody wars begin. They can have their own court tv channel and it will be a hoot.

THIS IS VERY BIG FOLKS. New Yorkers are not nearly as socially liberal as people think. The NY suburbs have a huge orthodox jewish population that will be very upset about the gay marriage issue. Irish and Italian catholics may feel very strongly about it too. Upstate is already very conservative and republican. Even in the city there is a large orthodox jewish community and blacks and hispanics wont be happy about gay marriage either.

1. Orthodox Jews are outnumbered by their more secular bretheren by about 10-1 in suburbia.

2. The only people you see going to Church in my "Catholic" neighborhood are collecting socialist security.

3. The blacks and Latinos have been apathetic since the "Heather Has Two Mommies" debacle.

4. New York lacks a large, socially conservative evangelical community.

5. Upstate is not as conservative as it once was and the suburbs vote Democrat as often as the city.

6. The only "socially conservative" issue that has ever played well on a statewide basis is "law and order" and even that has been called into question.

I will counter your claims one by one to keep this orderly

"1. Orthodox Jews are outnumbered by their more secular bretheren by about 10-1 in suburbia."
A. This is simply not true anymore in NY. It was true 20 years ago, but today many Long Island suburbs and Rockland county and probably westchester have very big orthodox communities. Secular jews do outnumber the orthodox, but in NY(and no other state) the orthodox jewish vote alone can make a big difference. Also, according to polls younger jewish voters actually vote majority republican.
"2. The only people you see going to Church in my "Catholic" neighborhood are collecting socialist security."
A. True, but old people can vote republican too(though it is unlikely). While Catholics are not as religious as other groups they are still more socially conservative than wealthy white voters as a whole(at least thats my impression)
3. The blacks and Latinos have been apathetic since the "Heather Has Two Mommies" debacle.
A: I don't know about that. But this is the first time in modern history that Republicans and Blacks have been in solid agreement on one of the top issues in the campaign(gay marriage).
4. New York lacks a large, socially conservative evangelical community.
A: Yes it does, but its among Black voters.
5. Upstate is not as conservative as it once was and the suburbs vote Democrat as often as the city.
A: Look at the county by county map for the 2000 election. Almost every county upstate voted for Bush.
6. The only "socially conservative" issue that has ever played well on a statewide basis is "law and order" and even that has been called into question.
A: Well this will be the second
