I recall a lot of talk about Saddam prior to his capture, but a lot of it didn't pan out.

I am taking the increase in reports as significant because Bin Laden is an unusually tall foreigner in that area and is supposed to be with a larger group, which I hope will make him easier to discover.

I don't think he has a local network of associates of very long standing as Saddam had with him. Also, if he is in the mountains he won't have the advantage of Urban areas with a large population to blend into.

Is there any indication that Bin Laden treats locals well, as opposed to his vassals he brings with him?
