[history]
A day after a large fire destroyed seven City of Poughkeepsie businesses, investigators Wednesday ruled out a possible cause of the fire and reopened South Avenue.
A state expert in investigating automobile fires joined city firefighters and investigators from Dutchess County Wednesday afternoon to help determine the cause of a fire. Before the Office of Fire Prevention and Control expert's arrival, investigators had ruled out several possible accidental causes.

Those darn SUV's, always causing trouble. Sometimes I see them hanging out around the liquor stores, with their greased up axles and cigarettes rolled up in their sleeves, just looking for trouble. Someone really should do something about those darn punk SUV's.

I park my SUV in the parking lot across the drive from my apartment building, and boy am I glad now. Don't need it burnin' me alive.
With all the other reports on SUVs, I may need to chain it to the ground to keep it from driving away and committing all sorts of crimes.
I thought about disconnecting the battery, but she might pull a Christine and repair herself.

''It doesn't make sense,'' he said. ''If you cross a wire, you get a fire right away, not two hours later"
Not true! Depends on the short and where it is in the wiring harness, not all "Hot" wires are "hot" all the time' all switched wires are "cold" until switched on. A broken wire not a "True short" can arc for quite awhile before catching insulating material on fire, even then it can smolder for a long time before being noticed. What kind of SUV? Ford uses a sound insulator that smolders a long time when exposed to a small spark (one type used under the carpet is like juet, made up of cloth fiber and other material, real stinky when it burns, the other is fiberglass based;used mostly under the hood and body, which gives off little smoke and much less odor)
