LOS ANGELES - Former California Gov. Pete Wilson has been hired by a consulting group that helps companies develop business and political strategies.
Wilson, who was governor from 1991 to 1999, will join Bingham Consulting Group beginning March 1, the company said in a statement. He will work with various companies to create policies that can be used in regulated industries such as health care, energy, manufacturing and telecommunications.
He will also counsel the company's 850-member international law firm.
"Pete's knowledge of the policies, people and processes of government at all levels makes him a natural and valuable addition to Bingham Consulting," said Stephen E. Merrill, the company's president and former two-term governor and attorney general of New Hampshire.
Wilson has spent the past five years working as managing director of Pacific Capital Group, a merchant bank based in Los Angeles and has served on numerous governing boards. He is a distinguished fellow at the Herbert Hoover Institution of Stanford University and recently served as an adviser to California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's election campaign.

Pete Wilson couldn't be a "consultant" for a one car funeral. ROFLMAO And he has less personality than the back wall of a racket ball court. Mr. Stammering n Stuttering, I'd stick my hand down a garbage disposal and flip the switch before I'd hire that moron. Besides, I thought Pete Wilson was already on the DNC payroll.
