"Although I voted against the ban a decade ago, over the past 10 years it has reduced crime dramatically and has made our streets safer," Warner said. "The legislation also has protected the rights of gun owners better than many of us predicted."

Ignore the RINOs. They have a need to be liked by liberals. And let's make sure this important bill isn't killed by "poison pill" provisions.

CCRKBA ALERT!!!

DON'T BELIEVE THE 'SELL-OUT' RUMORS!
Rumors are circulating across the Internet that the National Rifle Association has "sold out" on passage of S. 659, the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, by agreeing to amendments that would extend the so-called "assault weapons" ban of 1994 and close the so-called "gun show loophole."

Those rumors are false.

However, by circulating such allegations, it is possible that key members of Congress will be misled into believing that "It's okay if we accept these anti-gun amendments, because that's what the NRA wants."

Gun owners should realize that the NRA, along with the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, and other gun rights organizations and our members and supporters, are solidly against any such extension. That has always been the case.

Firearms owners are urged to continue calling their Senators today as the Senate debates S.659, the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act. Tell your Senators to support passage of a clean bill, with no amendments.

To reach your Senators, call the Senate Switchboard at: 202-224-3121 and ask to speak to the Senators from your state.

It is also possible to get their direct telephone numbers by visiting the following website:

http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm.

With more than 650,000 members and supporters nationwide, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is one of the nation's premier gun rights organizations. As a non-profit organization, the Citizens Committee is dedicated to preserving firearms freedoms through active lobbying of elected officials and facilitating grass-roots organization of gun rights activists in local communities throughout the United States.
