A very apt comparison. I am afraid the outcome is bound to be similar as well.

I realize this is an organizational press release, but it might be helpful to have some idea of :numbers of protesters involved; their approximate backgrounds (eg: clerks, housewives, shop keepers, students, etc.); which police or militia units responded (local police? Army? Pasdaran ?);and how the responding units were armed: (clubs,sidearms,rifles-obviously there were if rubber bullets were fired-,armored cars,tanks,crowd-control gasses.)

Yeah, be nice to have more info.
Sometimes they (SMCCDI) do a follow-up with more details.
Usually by the next day, some other media source picks it up and fills in the details.

A full blown Persian version of The Prague Spring. The retribution against these demonstrators will be savage and desperate.

If I was Putin...or better, if I was in positions of Putin...hmmm maybe one day? heheheh, anyways, if I was, it is time to start pumping guns and monies to opposition...for several thing obvious: revolution will happen, might as well get in bed with new guys and faster, better for all involved...and more likely that friendship real and not just because of mutual business interested.
