Roll call - Who voted what on all the gun lawsuit ban votes, possibly AW ban later
thomas ^ | 2-25-04 | US SENATE

Posted on 02/25/2004 8:49:53 AM PST by Dan from Michigan

The first vote is to end the fillibuster. I'll post the other votes on this thread when they happen and when Thomas prints them. On this first vote, a YEA vote ends the fillibuster.

Everything should happen in the next 30 hours since cloture was invoked. However, right now - Drunken swimmer Ted Kennedy is going on a very long rant.

I still can't find the text of the amendment. At best it requires trigger locks sold with guns(bad). At worst, it requires that guns are STORED with them or you can be find. I DO NOT KNOW which is which and am waiting for THOMAS to say so.

Wrong on both assumptions.

Then why do you say you have *no* control over their (NRA's) actions. You may not have much, but you do have some, as do I.

" If 80 million gun owners voted for their Rights, we wouldn't have gun control.

The challenge was there before the 2000 election. Stop the Bill before it reaches his desk. I am not going to absolve the lazy gun owners for their lack of responsibility."

I agree that many don't get off their duff to vote. It's wrong and it's pathetic. However, many of us do vote and we voted for the GOP and against gun control, but that hasn't stopped the GOP from allowing it to happen on their watch anyway.

The fact remains that even though (some of) we didn't actively protect our rights, the government with the GOP in the lead is proactively stripping us of them. And it's intolerable and unforgiveable.

Please don't blame the entire Republican Party for the actions of the few RINOS in the Senate. That's like saying the dem party supports our Second Amendment Rights. It's also a different story in the House.

Why not? You want to blame all gunowners for the failure of those who don't vote.

If the GOP leadership is complicit, I will blame the GOP.

If the GOP wants a big tent that encourages values contrary to it's core principles just to gain power, then I will blame the GOP.

It doesn't take a majority to win, only an irate and tireless minority keen to set fires in the hearts of man. (With apologies to Sam Adams.)

The big tent plan of the GOP dilutes the values and power of the GOP by electing RINOs who are willing to sell us out as they pursue their own agenda.

Bottom line - I do blame the GOP.

In the Senate, 41 unprincipled men and women can obstruct what the majority wants. Why can't 46 principled men and women block passage of some of the worst bills?

We already have too many laws on the books. Do we really need any more? Blocking garbage from becoming law may be every bit as important as passing new laws.

That is a "win" in my book.

Then, of course, Sam wasn't talking about voting against a tyrannical government.
