OK...so the babysitter couldn't engage the safety when she was clearing the chamber. That is what Di-FI defines as a poorly designed gun.
You can't clear the chamber of a 1911 with the safety engaged. The 1911, the greatest fighting handgun design EVER, is therefore unsafe.
