What difference does a constitutional amendment make to this would-be gay Martin Luther King since he is flouting the laws of the land already? Won't he just flout the new laws too?

Unlike Massachusetts,which has by judicial decree been ordered to allow gay marriage per their constitution,California has not recognized these marriages.

The court will be the battleground to challenge California law as unconstitutional..He simply circumvented the process of challenging in court and broke the law..It was all symbolic unless affirmed by the courts.
